An elderly woman from Ikot Ansa community in Calabar, Ntunkae Elizabeth Bassey Mkpang, has donated a piece of land to Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District. The land is intended for the construction of a much-needed health post in the area. This donation was made public during a town hall meeting organized by the constituency office of Senator to mark his one year in office.
Mrs. Mkpang is known for her deep-rooted commitment to the well-being of her community. She expressed her joy and satisfaction in contributing towards making healthcare accessible for her fellow residents, particularly in remote areas where access to medical facilities is limited.
In appreciation, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, acknowledged Mrs. Mkpang’s altruism and emphasized the importance of such community-driven initiatives in enhancing public health infrastructure. He pledged to oversee the swift commencement and completion of the health post project that will serve the community effectively.
Community leaders took turns to appreciate Mrs. Mkpang for her act of selflessness and community spirit. The planned health post is expected to cater to a wide range of healthcare needs, providing essential medical services and promoting the well-being of Ikot Ansa residents for years to come.
The townhall meeting held on Monday, July 1, at the Calabar Municipality local government council hall. Present at the meeting were State Chapter Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, Hon. Stanley Nsemo, Member representing Calabar Municipality State Constituency, amongst other dignitaries, community leaders and party stalwarts.
