As part of effort in reshuffling his cabinet, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has sacked Dr Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Tinubu also dismissed the Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye; Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John; Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo; and Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim.

Betta Edu, a former National Women leader of the All Progressive Congress was suspended over allegations of N585m scandal in the Federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.

In a leaked memo the Cross River born minister had allegedly instructed the Accountant General Of The Federation, Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, to Pay N585M into a private bank account of a project accountant in her ministry.

Betta Edu had claimed that the payment was meant for the vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos State.

The former minister of Humanitarian Affairs And Poverty Reduction, Edu is to be replaced by Dr Nentawe Yilwatda.

In addition, Bianca Odumegu Ojukwu has been named the minister of States for foreign affairs, while Yusuf Tanko Sununu takes over the role of Minister of state for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

In further reshuffles, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, who previously served as the Minister of State for Health, will now oversee the Ministry of Education, while Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim takes over as the Minister of Women Affairs, a significant transition following Ohanenye’s departure.

Additionally, Hon. Abubakar Momoh, who had been the Minister of Niger Delta Development, now leads the newly created Ministry of Regional Development, overseeing various regional commissions, including the Niger Delta, North East, and North West development commissions.
