On May 27, 2024, Roothub, a leading provider of digital skills training, organized a remarkable outreach program to celebrate Children’s Day.
The event aimed to educate and inspire young minds, and it did just that. Hundreds of children across Nigeria benefited from interactive sessions focused on digital literacy and online safety, setting them on the path to becoming responsible digital citizens. The outreach program was successfully held in various locations including Uyo, Enugu, Jalingo, Minna, Ibadan, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Lekki, Festac, Onna, Eket, Kaduna, Abuja, schools, and orphanages.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of Roothub’s specially designed comic book, “The Digital Adventures of Toyo and Boro,” which teaches children the importance of online safety, digital citizenship, and responsible technology use, while also promoting critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The outreach program and comic book had a profound impact on the children. They gained improved digital literacy and online safety awareness, and their creativity and critical thinking skills were enhanced. The children’s confidence and self-esteem were boosted, and they developed problem-solving and collaboration skills. They also gained a positive and responsible attitude towards technology, and their curiosity and interest in learning were inspired.
The outreach program fostered a sense of community and social responsibility among the children, and encouraged reading and learning habits. Volunteers from different backgrounds came together to make the outreach a success, demonstrating the power of community and collaboration. “The experience was incredible,” said Khyroo, the host from the Kaduna team. “Seeing the children’s faces light up as they learned was truly heartwarming. We made a significant impact, and I look forward to more initiatives like this from Roothub.”
Another volunteer from Uyo shared, “I was blown away by the impact of the outreach! Witnessing the children’s curiosity and creativity firsthand was inspiring. The sense of community and collaboration among the volunteers and partners was remarkable, and it’s clear that we made a difference in the lives of these children.”
The outreach program served as a testament to the impact that can be made when individuals work together towards a common goal. As one volunteer aptly put it, “We may have started as strangers, but we left as a family, united in our mission to empower young minds.” Roothub’s continued commitment to empowering young minds has left a lasting impression on the children, volunteers, and partners involved. As we look to the future, we are reminded that nurturing young minds is crucial for building a brighter tomorrow. Join Roothub in their mission to make a difference in the lives of children across Nigeria.
