The Nigerian Police Force (NPF), will resume training for newly recruited Police Constables, and officers on Saturday August 10th,2024.
This is coming following a disagreement which had occurred between the Nigerian Police Force, and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The Inspector General Of Police, (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun had accused the PSC of alleged irregularities, and corruption over the recently released names of successful candidates for the recruitment exercise.
It was discovered that several names of persons purported to be names of successful candidates are those who did not even apply and therefore did not take part in the recruitment exercise
Kayode had also made allegations of financial dealings and corrupt practices leading to the outcome where unqualified and untrainable individuals were being shortlisted.
In a statement issued on Monday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force public relations officer titled ” RECRUITMENT POLICE/PSC AGREE ON FINAL MERIT LIST” it noted that NPF and PSC have finally reached an agreement regarding the final merit list for the recruitment of Police Constables into the Nigerian Police Force.
According to Olumuyiwa, the agreement followed an extensive deliberations and collaboration, between the NPF and PSC, who he said ” worked diligently to ensure that the recruitment process remains transparent, fair, and merit-based.”
He also said that IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, had expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that the agreement on the final merit list is a testament to the commitment of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission to work together in the best interest of the country.
Olumuyiwa disclosed that the IGP, also expressed confidence that the new recruits will contribute significantly to the mission of the Federal Government of Nigeria to create employment opportunities for the Nigerian youths, boost internal security mechanisms, and maintain law and order.
“The Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission have finally reached an agreement regarding the final merit list for the recruitment of Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
“Following extensive deliberations and collaboration, both the NPF and PSC have worked diligently to ensure that the recruitment process remains transparent, fair, and merit-based.
“In light of this development, training for the newly recruited officers is scheduled to commence on Saturday, August 10th, 2024.
“The training program will be intensive, designed to equip the recruits with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively and uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.
” In furtherance of the directive of the IGP, the trainees are to be schooled on modern policing ethics and principles, community policing strategies, ICT, artificial intelligence, human relations, attitudinal and behavioural change etc”- It reads in part.
