The Nigeria Police Force has denied maltreating police recruits during the ongoing training program for police constables across the country.
In a recent video posted by Channels Television, the video depicted police recruits undergoing training with inadequate food and water.
Reacting in a statement issued on Saturday, the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the video wss originally reported as a special report by channels 10 years ago, at the Police College in Ikeja Lagos State.
It reads in part ” The recent video in circulation depicting police recruits undergoing training in substandard conditions with inadequate food provisions and welfare is old.
“The video, which was originally a special report released by Channels Television, dates back over ten years and reflects the training environment at the Police Training College in Ikeja during that period.
“ The then Federal Government leadership responded to the call and carried out repairs in the college and improved on the feeding condition of police trainees.
“Equally, since then, the Nigeria Police Force has experienced various leadership changes, resulting in considerable advancements and development in all areas.
“The recirculation of the video seems to be a deliberate act to create a wrong impression of the police system and, most likely, the handiwork of mischief makers to malign the police authority.”
