Police Arrest C’River Radio Host Over Alleged Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force, has arrested a radio host, Joe Paul Obi Osowo in connection with alleged fraud.

Joe Paul who is a radio host on FAD FM 93.1 Calabar, is accused of Fraud, obtaining by false pretense as submitted in a petition by his cousin.

This was contained in a statement issued by Nelson A. Okpabi, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer Zone 6 Headquarters.

According to the statement, “Mr. Osowo is currently in lawful custody at the Zone 6 Police facility following a court order. His detention relates to an ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud and obtaining money under false pretenses, as contained in a petition submitted by his cousin.”

The police statement revealed Mr. Osowo has been duly served with the court charge sheet in the presence of his legal counsel and is scheduled to appear before the court on Monday, 16th December 2024.

“This assertion is misleading and necessitates clarification to present the accurate position of events and to correct any misinformation being disseminated on social media platforms, including the X handle of the individual in question, Mr. JoePaul Obi Osowo.

“Contrary to the allegations of misconduct, the Zone 6 Police Headquarters wishes to reaffirm its commitment to professional and ethical standards in handling this case. The investigation is being conducted transparently and in accordance with due process.”

The police added that ” Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the misleading and unfounded claims circulating online. The Nigeria Police remains resolute in upholding justice and ensuring fairness in all its operations.”
