PDP begins nomination forms sale for bye-election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the commencement of the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for its members seeking to contest in the upcoming bye-elections across 12 states in the federation.

The decision was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) following the release of the bye-election schedule by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary,  Debo Ologunagba, said the e stated that the sale of forms will begin on Thursday, July 3, 2025, and end on Thursday, July 10, 2025, while submission of completed forms will close on Friday, July 11, 2025.

According to him, “All eligible and interested party members are encouraged to obtain and submit their completed forms at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja. The process will be open, inclusive, and in full compliance with our commitment to internal democracy.”

The bye-elections will be conducted in select senatorial districts, federal constituencies, and state constituencies across Adamawa, Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Taraba, and Zamfara States, where legislative vacancies have been declared.

Ologunagba further assured party stakeholders and members of a transparent and credible nomination process, stressing that the PDP remains committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring that only credible candidates emerge through a fair and level playing field.

“The NWC assures all Party leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the PDP of a transparent and credible nomination exercise as we march to victory in the bye-elections,” he said.

The forthcoming bye-elections are expected to serve as a political barometer for measuring public confidence in various parties, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.
