Among those appointed are Chief Emmanuel Ogidi – Chairman, Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa – Member, Barr. Godwin Akpan Udonta – Member Mrs. Bekewei Ashanti – Member, Idehen Ebomwonyi – Member, Dame Vivian Ahanmisi – Member and Chief Damiete Herbert-Mille – Secretary.

The NWC stated that the committee’s mandate includes stabilizing the party’s base across the six states of the zone Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers as well as addressing internal grievances that have recently led to speculation about planned defections.

“This intervention is in accordance with the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017), and it is aimed at reinforcing unity and strategic planning ahead of upcoming political activities in the zone,” the statement read.

The NWC urged all members of the party in the South-South zone to cooperate with the caretaker committee and prioritize the collective interest of the PDP.

Ogidi, a seasoned politician and former PDP National Vice Chairman (South-South), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Economists of Nigeria (FCE), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR) and the Nigerian Institute of Marketing, is expected to bring experience and stability to the interim leadership.
