The Nigerian Labour Congress has raised alarm, alleging the presence of soldiers at the venue of the ongoing meeting with the Secretary Of The Government Of The Federation.
In a social media post seen by our correspondent, NLC noted that any attempt to intimidate, provoke the leaders, it would continue with further prolonged strike action.
Street News understands that the Nigerian labour Congress is striking, over what it’s described as a disappointment over the federal government failure to conclude and pass into law the new national minimum wage act, and reverse the vexatious hike in the electricity tariff to N65/kWh.
Despite a series of deadlock meetings, labour is also striking over the inconclusive national minimum wage negotiation and refusal to reverse the hike in electricity tariff.
Our correspondent who visited various areas in the country, observed that many schools, banks, ministries, and petrols were deserted as a result of the strike.
Recall that the Nigerian Police force earlier on Monday morning, had directed the NLC to shelve the strike, and focus on negotiating with the federal government.
