One should consider the next First Lady and the significance of her role in stabilising the new administration as Cross River State’s next governor is set to take office on May 29, 2023, as preparations are already well under way. The role of the first lady has evolved significantly over time. It has expanded to include managing the Government House, supporting social causes, taking part in political campaigns, and representing the governor at formal and ceremonial events.

Given her important role in government, a first lady must, therefore, be qualified in order to function effectively. Cross River State is extremely fortunate to have handled this particular aspect well. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the next first lady, is a clearly qualified candidate.
