An Uyo based landlord has reportedly removed the roof from the room of one of her tenant who has not been able to renew her rent. The tenant is a young woman with 6 children. The mother of 6 so simply identified as ‘Akan’.
The story was brought on social media through an Uyo based influencer popularly called Yenne.
Yenne, who also visited the woman, has this to say. “I visited a widow in Uyo whose landlord removed her roof to forcefully eject her from his house because of her inability to renew her rent.
“She is a mother of 6, and she lost her husband about 3 years ago. Ever since then, she has been responsible for the upbringing of her children, which she couldn’t sustain as she small moimoi business also collapsed.
“According to her, the stress of making and selling it didn’t match up with the returns. Hence, she was frustrated to stop the business.
“As you read this, she has nowhere to sleep with her children as there is no roof over her head. The rain of yesterday soaked everything in their room.
“She is really helpless, and the children really need a roof over their head.
As at the time of this report, Yenne has started raising funds to rescue the women and her children from danger of sleeping under an open roof.
