As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Federal Government has appealed to citizens to remain patient with the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the policies would yield lasting benefits.

Speaking at an inter-denominational church service at the National Ecumenical Christian Centre in Abuja, Akume described governance as a “shared responsibility” and urged Nigerians to remain united and supportive of the government’s efforts. He emphasized that the current challenges faced by Nigerians would pave the way for national renewal, stronger institutions, and improved conditions across various sectors, including food, energy, healthcare, education, jobs, and infrastructure.

Akume called for collective effort, stating, “Our challenges are real, but our resilience is greater. This is the moment to rekindle our national spirit, transform challenges into opportunities, and drive forward with hope grounded in action.” He stressed that Independence Day is not just a remembrance of history but “a renewal of purpose”, urging citizens to contribute to building a just and prosperous nation.
