Group announces plans for 3rd edition of Baksssi Int’l Fish Festival

As part of measures in repositioning the state’s tourism offerings, the 3rd edition of Baksssi International Fish Festival will be holding from 4th to 6th December, 2024.

The festival, which will be held at a water front, in Bakkasi Local Government Area Of Cross River State, South South Nigeria, was announced by a group of young people led by its founder, Frank Edima.

Frank Edima described the festival as an avenue to showcase the state’s rich fishing heritage, vibrant culture, and a tight-knit community spirit.

She said “We are honored to bring back the Bakassi International Fish Festival for the third year. This event not only celebrates our cultural heritage but also brings together people from all walks of life to enjoy and appreciate the uniqueness of Bakassi.

“We aim to create an inclusive event that offers something for everyone: from traditional performances to modern entertainment, educational workshops, and more.”

Highlight of the event will feature Festival Opening Ceremony, Agaba Performances, Art and Craft Exhibitions, Local Wrestling, Special Training for Fishermen and Women, Traditional Cooking Demos.

Others include Evening Entertainment and Music, Pageantry Grand Finale and Dinner Boat Regatta, Cultural Parades as well as Launching of Festival Annual Magazine”.

The group invites tourist and cultural heritage enthusiasts to join the festival event as so much more will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
