In a lengthy Facebook post made by one  Idaka Peter on Saturday, it alleged that the Vice Chancellor “was also promised to be made a substantial Vice Chancellor”, hence his involvement in Partisan Politics.

Street News gathered that the winner of the just concluded Student Union Government (SUG) Elections,  Igbeng Thywill had been replaced with his opponent Ndep Kenolyll  who had lost the election, after a petition was filed against the winner for using his nickname on the ballot rather than his original name.

The petitioner argued that Emmanuel Igbeng Thyswill is not a recognized name in the university, rather the name is “Igbeng Emmanuel Lazarus”.

In the Facebook post, the group disclosed that after the petition, a committee was set up by the acting VC to  investigate the issue raised.

The group said rather than “Working without external influence”,  it had obtained “reliable information that the committee were bribed with 10 million naira and the acting Vice Chancellor was also promised to be made a substantial Vice Chancellor, when we truly know that the Vice Chancellor should ordinary come from the Southern Senatorial District after Central, North have taken their turn. As sure, they were connived to subchange the interest of the Students for personal gain.”

It reads in part”Our attention has been drawn to a petty grievance petition written against *COMR. IGBENG, EMMANUEL LAZARUS (THYWILL)* who victoriously won the SUG Election twice and was declared winner by the electoral body, but his opponent who failed twice in the recent Students Union Government (SUG) Election conducted on the 29th June petitioned the process without a substantial evidence, or may be because he has the SSG as his backbone which he has always said proudly with the symptom of arrogancy and self-confidence.

“The petition came with a political undertone by some Cabal who are saying they are in government more deeply than others and will do everything to install SUG president in their favour.

“We think if the no based petty grievance and administration ignorance petition was true, he should have been disqualified for contesting the said election but he was cleared and published as a qualified  presidential candidate which he stood election, won and was declared President elect of University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Students Union Present.

“After the say baseless petition, a committee was set up by the Acting Vice Chancellor and the school authorities to investigate the issues raised, instead of the committee to work without external influence, we got a reliable information that the committee were bribed with 10 Million naira, and the acting Vice Chancellor was also promised to be made a substantial Vice Chancellor, when we truly know that the Vice Chancellor should ordinary come from the Southern Senatorial District after Central, North have taken their turn. As sure, there were connived to subchange the interest of the Students for personal gain.”

The group further called on the acting Vice Chancellor to work  in collaboration with the committee members ” not to destroy the good intentions of His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State to restructure Unicross and take away debris from the system.”

It promised to take up legal action, in order to stop the alleged  perceived injustice in the Student Union Government.
