The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has appointment Professor Francisca Bassey as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).
This was disclosed in a statement issued bon Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Anthony Owan Enoh.
According to the statement, the appointment follows the recommendations of the University Governing Council after a rigorous and transparent selection process.
Professor Bassey, a seasoned academic and administrator, assumes the role with immediate effect.
“Her emergence reflects the administration’s abiding faith in meritocracy and the empowerment of capable Cross Riverians to drive institutional growth and excellence,” the SSG stated.
Professor Bassey is widely respected for her academic accomplishments, leadership experience, and commitment to institutional development. Her appointment is seen as a strategic step toward repositioning the university as a centre of innovation and academic excellence.
