FAAN Warns Against Illicit Activities At Airports

The federal airport authority has warned commuters and the general public against carrying out illicit activities along airports in the country.

In an internal memo, titled “Touting/Illicit Activities At the Airport” dated June 21st June, 2024, signed by the Managing director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku directed to all directors, and airport managers across the country, it noted that following the increase in illicit activities across the country, it had become necessary to amplify the activities of taskforce, as well as air Force surveillance.

” Following the increase in illicit activities at all the airports, it has become imperative that we put a deterrent by amplifying the activities of the task force comprising AVSEC and the Air Force commencing On Monday, June 24th, 2024″.

It also warned that those caught violating or carrying out Illicit activities within the airport, would be prosecuted, as well as fined according to the FAAN bye-laws.

“Any individual or organization caught in violation or conducting any such activities which include touting, loitering or illicit activities within the airports will be duly prosecuted and fined according to the FAAN bye-laws.”- It reads in parts.
