LAGOS – The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has called for greater collaboration between it and the institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
FAAN also said that its over 100 accountants have consistently delivered their jobs transparently and with utmost integrity.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director, FAAN, stated this on Monday at the agency’s headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos during the visit of Dr. Innocent Okwuossa, the 59th President of ICAN and his team.
According to Kuku, ICAN had continued to play a critical role in training and retraining accountants all over the country to provide accounting services with the highest level of professionalism.
She commended the ICAN President and his team for the great work they are doing to keep the professionalism competence going among members.
Kuku further emphasised that the the accountants working with FAAN had proven to be a very important segment of the agency’s workforce by carrying out their jobs with commitment, accuracy, transparency and integrity.
She said: “It is our desire to continue to partner with your prestigious institute as we leverage on this important visit to call for stronger collaboration between FAAN and ICAN going forward.”
The helmsman insisted that the present management in FAAN was committed to ensuring provision qualitative services at every airport in the country, adding that the agency would not jettison safe, secure and efficient carriage of passengers and goods within the country in the discharge of its duties.
She added: “We are also mindful of the need to consciously carry out our activities with utmost transparency, accountability and integrity for the benefit of the nation and this is that very important juncture our paths cross as an institution.”
In his speech, Okwuossa lauded Kuku for giving him and his tram a warm reception.
He assured that the institute would continue to partner with FAAN on capacity building to further equip its members.
The ICAN President further stated that the FAAN Managing Director had not only made history as the first woman at the helms of affairs in the agency, but had also inspired women across the country that they could get to any leadership positions they aspired.
Okwuossa noted ICAN recognised the important role and the impact FAAN makes in the aviation industry infrastructure development, adding that as a result of this, there had not been serious accidents and incidents in the sector for some time now.
The ICAN President pointed out that FAAN had from time to time supported the ICAN members working with the agency for training to further broaden their horizon, calling on the agency to further sponsor their members to the ICAN annual conference coming up in October and other international conferences.
The President appealed to Kuku to liaise with other agencies to establish the ICAN Chapter in the industry.
