The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to democratic values and inclusive governance as Nigeria marks Democracy Day.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Governor Otu congratulated President Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, describing the day as a time for reflection on the nation’s democratic journey and renewed commitment to its ideals.
“Democracy is more than just periodic elections. It is about upholding human rights, promoting equality, and ensuring the rule of law,” Otu said.
He assured citizens that his administration remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and business-friendly policies.
Governor Otu emphasized the importance of citizen engagement, urging Cross Riverians to perform their civic duties and hold leaders accountable.
