The Cross River State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of the planned elections of National Youth council of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, scheduled to hold on June 19th, 2024.

In a letter dated 13th June,2024 directed to the chairman of the council through the state security adviser Major General O. U. Obono (Rtd), seen by our correspondent, noted that the suspension is aimed at avoiding a breach of security in the state.

It also directed all sister security agencies in the State to clampdown on individuals or groups of persons found contravening the directive of the government.

“I write to inform you that the Youth council election slated to hold on the 19th June 2024, if allowed to take place would cause a breach of security in the State.

” In view of this, this office strongly advise that you suspend the event to allow for amicable resolution of the contending issues before proceeding.

“You are please encouraged to heed this advice to predude a breakdown of law and order in the state, as anything on the contrary would not be entertained”.- It reads.
