The Nigerian chess community is eagerly anticipating a landmark event as Guinness World Record holder and Chess In Slums Africa (CISA) founder, Tunde Onakoya, prepares to face off against Nigerian chess prodigy and National Women’s Chess Champion, Deborah Quickpen.
The highly anticipated match is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, in Lagos, and promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of Nigeria’s brightest chess stars.
Deborah Quickpen, hailing from Bayelsa State, has rapidly ascended the ranks of African and global chess with her exceptional talent. At a young age, she has already made significant achievements, holding the title of Nigeria National Women’s Chess Champion and being the youngest person in history to do so. Deborah is currently ranked No. 1 in Nigeria and No. 4 across all female age groups in Africa.
