The government of Akwa Ibom State, through the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, has declared that some sections of the Calabar-Itu dual carriageway will be shutdown starting from Monday May 20, 2024 till further notice due to ongoing excavation work in the state.

The Commissioner announced this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Uyo, stating that the road closure would give way for the ongoing excavation work involved in the construction of an underground drainage system in the area. He also noted that the government regrets the inconveniences caused by the decision.

This is to pave way for the deep excavation work involved in the ongoing construction of 0.97km underground drainage system at Tabernacle road, which is advancing towards the discharge point at Calabar- Itu dual carriageway.”
