Despite the tension, party leaders say the NEC meeting will proceed as scheduled, citing Section 31(3) of the PDP Constitution, which gives statutory authority to decisions taken by the NEC.

As of the time of filing this report, senior PDP figures  and BOT leaders were locked in emergency consultations, while security around the area remained heavy.
