The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the reconstruction of police facilities damaged by the recent devastating flood in Borno State.
Egbetokun gave the directives on Monday during a sympathy visit to the state, where he commiserated with Governor Babagana Zulum and the people affected by the flood.
The police chief, accompanied by Deputy Inspectors-General of Police Bala Ciroma and Ede Ayuba, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police Danladi Lalas, assured the governor of the police force’s commitment to providing adequate security.
He said “The Nigerian Police Force is committed to supporting the people of Borno State during this challenging time.”
Governor Zulum appreciated the IGP’s gesture, praising his leadership qualities and commitment to reforming the police force.
IGP Egbetokun also addressed officers and men of the Borno State Police Command, urging them to remain professional and dedicated to securing the state.
“I charge you to assist the government in providing relief and restoring normalcy to the state,” he said.
The recent flood, caused by the collapse of the Alau Dam, has affected over 414,000 people and destroyed critical infrastructure, including police facilities.
