The atmosphere was electric today in Ikang Town as the community gathered to celebrate the second anniversary of their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Chief Antigha Cobham. The celebratory event was marked by calls for peace, unity, and strong support for the current government administrations.
Addressing a packed audience, Chief Cobham centred his speech on the urgent need to cement peace and unity within the community, stressing that these are the bedrock of development.

In a move set to reshape the traditional council’s structure, the Chief emphasized his intention to expand his cabinet, with a particular focus on the youth and women councils. This move is seen as an effort to integrate younger voices and ensure gender representation in local governance.

The anniversary was also a moment to officially welcome new blood into the council. Certificates were presented to several newly appointed council members.
A highlight of the ceremony was the induction of the new Youth Leader of Ikang Town Council, Prince Linus Essien, Deputy Youth Leader, Prince Edem Ekpenyong Iyamba, Secretary, Prince Ekpo Okokon, Treasurer, Prince Henry Kenneth, amongst others.
