Bakassi Set For Economic Boost As LG Council Pledges Support For Fish Festival

The Bakassi Local Government Council has thrown its weight behind the upcoming Bakassi International Fish Festival, pledging its full support to ensure the event’s success.

This move is expected to give the local economy a significant boost, creating opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals in the fishing industry.

Chairman of the Bakassi Local Government Council, Hon. Effiong Etim Okon, made the pledge when he received the steering committee of the festival in his office. He described the festival as a significant event that would promote unity, tourism, and economic growth in the area.

“The Bakassi International Fish Festival is a vital part of our cultural heritage, and we are committed to supporting it,” Hon. Okon said. “This event will not only showcase our rich fishing traditions but also provide a platform for businesses to thrive, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.”

The festival, which is in its third edition, is expected to attract thousands of visitors from within and outside the state. It will feature a range of activities, including a fish and fish products trade fair, cultural exhibitions, sports, and special awards.

Chief Ani, Chairman of the Steering Committee, commended the chairman of the local government council for his commitment to the festival. He also praised the council for restoring administration to the area, which he said would have a positive impact on the local economy.

“The Bakassi International Fish Festival is a testament to the resilience and determination of our people,” Chief Ani said. “We are grateful for the support of the local government council, and we look forward to working together to make this event a success.”

Bakkasi Fishing Festival Founded in 2022 by Frank- Edima Essien, the festival is scheduled to hold on December 4th To 6th in Bakkasi Local Government Area South South Nigeria Cross River State.
