The Akwa Ibom State Government has warned residents public against a fake online message promoting a fraudulent conditional cash grant.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information,  Aniekan Umanah, the government said the message circulating on social media uses the image of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and the government’s insignia without authorization. It also includes a scam link: grant.akwaibom.claim-itz.online.

The government described the link as false and misleading, urging residents not to click on it or provide any personal information.

“The Akwa Ibom State Government does not operate any cash grant programme through unofficial websites or third-party links,” Umanah said.

He advised the public to rely only on verified government sources for information on official programmes and welfare schemes.
