The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has sacked Dr Bassey Okon, as its special duties commissioner.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Monday, In Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Enobong Uwah.
Though the governor did not give reasons for relieving the commissioner of his appointment, he said that the termination was with immediate effect.
The Governor also ordered the commissioner to hand over all property of the government in his position to the Permanent Secretary in the ministry and directed the Secretary to the State Government to oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the appointment of a new commissioner.
“In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has relieved Dr Bassey Okon, Commissioner for Special Duties as Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom Executive Council with immediate effect.
“His Excellency, thanks him for his service to the state, and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
“He is therefore directed to handover to the permanent secretary in the ministry. In the meantime, the ministry will be supervised by the secretary to the state government pending the appointment of a new commissioner”. The statement reads.
