Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam federal constituency, Akwa Ibom State, Hon Unyime Idem, has received encomium from his constituents for completing and commissioning a 4km road in Oruk Anam local government area.

Idem, who is the chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, described the project as “an Easter gift from me to the people of Oruk Anam, because no development thrives without good road network. With the inauguration of this road, the economic activities of these communities will be enhanced greatly.”

Addressing his constituents at the Ikot Akpan Essien- Ikot Obong junction, venue of the commissioning, the lawmaker used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the federal constituency to be patient, assuring that more plans are underway for them.
“I want to assure you that what I’ve done in the past five years is quite little, compared with what I will do in the next three years. More projects are coming. I want to promise the people of Oruk Anam that street lights will touch all the wards in the local government.

“I promised you that I won’t buy a car or build a house for myself until I put smiles in the faces of my constituents. I’m still holding unto that promise,” he said.
He appealed to the youths to be peaceful, while restating his plans to facilitate more employments to his constituents, with the hope that “in the next ten years, I hope to see my constituents in federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) rise to managerial positions.”

Residents took turns to hail the lawmaker over his feat included the member representing Oruk Anam state constituency and deputy chief whip, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Sampson Idiong; his predecessor and former leader of the House, Hon. Udo Kieran Akpan, Political leader, Ikot Akpan Essien, Dr Paul Udofia, and the youths’ representative, Hon Sunday Festus.

The paramount ruler, Oruk Anam LGA, Obong Engr. Johnson Obosi, Oruk Anam PDP chapter chairman, Engr. Nsikan Peter Titus, Mr Ime Peter Akpan from Ikot Ukpong Eren, Mrs Ediana Sunday, women leader and Engr. Chibuike Godwin of the Federal Ministry of Works.
