The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has officially withdrawn the registration certificate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN). This decision follows a detailed review by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), which uncovered serial violations of the NYCN constitution and the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
According to a statement by the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Omolara Esan, the CAC found that the NYCN had breached sections 833 and 834 of CAMA 2020, leading to the withdrawal of its registration certificate issued on October 28, 2020.
The Ministry noted that the decision was taken after a comprehensive investigation revealed a prolonged leadership crisis spanning over 18 years. As a result, the CAC has de-recognized all existing claims to leadership, trusteeship, and management within the organization.
In line with its statutory powers, the CAC has constituted an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee and manage the affairs of the NYCN for a period of one year, effective October 6, 2025.
The Ministry has urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the Interim Management Committee in the ongoing restructuring process, aimed at restoring unity, legitimacy, and institutional integrity to the NYCN.
