The Anambra State Police Command has taken delivery of a new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
This is part of its efforts to strengthen its operational capabilities and enhance security across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this on Sunday while receiving the equipment at the State Police Headquarters in Awka. He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for the support, describing the APC as a “critical asset” in the Command’s efforts to tackle emerging security challenges.
“This addition to our fleet will significantly boost our ability to respond rapidly and effectively to threats, especially in flashpoint areas,” Orutugu said.
He commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his continuous efforts in improving police logistics, welfare, and overall morale of officers nationwide.
“The proactive leadership of the IGP is evident in the improved capacity of police commands across the country, and we in Anambra are grateful,” the CP added.
The command also reassured residents of its commitment to the protection of lives and property, while calling on members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the collective quest for peace and security.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday, it noted that the Command urged Ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly, noting that community support remains vital to the success of policing efforts.
