A man popularly known as Etteka in Ekpo Abasi community, Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, has reportedly beaten his pregnant girlfriend, Ime to death.
Primetime gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday morning in the vicinity of Thompson Street Ekpo Abasi junction.
It was gathered that the girlfriend, was sighted interrogating his boyfriend on why he was having a telephone conversation with another woman.
Witnesses said the impatient man, struggled over the phone before he slapped her and dealt blows on her several times, causing her to collapse on the spot.
Consequently, passers-by were said to have rushed to the scene to rescue the woman.Sources said the woman was thereafter rushed to a nearby medical facility, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Cross River State Command, DSP Irene Ugbo told primetime that the police was not aware of the incident as of the time of filing this report.
