Bakassi’s Empowerment Chairman Advocates for Harmony on Global Peace Day

Hon. Eyo Bassey, known as the Empowerment Chairman, Member representing Bakassi State Constituency, Cross River State House of Assembly, has joined the global celebration of the International Day of Peace.

Hon. Bassey shared a heartfelt message, urging the people of Bakassi to be ambassadors of peace. “In Bakassi, the significance of peace is deeply understood and cherished,” he said.

“Peace is not just the absence of conflict; it is the presence of justice, fairness, and opportunity. It is the foundation upon which we build our communities and pursue our dreams. We must use peace as a tool to rebuild Bakassi.”

He reminded the people of the Bakassi Deep Seaport project initiated by the State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, as a prime example of progress driven by peace. “This monumental endeavor shows the need for a peaceful and stable environment for such projects to succeed.”

“With this milestone, the People First Governor, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, has created a new order for the growth and development of bakassi as well as the empowerment of the bakassi people.”

Hon. Bassey called on everyone to embrace dialogue over discord and cooperation over conflict. “Our diversity is our strength, and by working together, we can overcome any challenge,” he added.

“Our commitment to peace must extend beyond local borders, advocating for policies that promote peace and support humanitarian efforts globally.
By doing so, we not only honor the spirit of the International Day of Peace but also pave the way for a more just and peaceful world. Together, we can make Bakassi a beacon of hope and a testament to the enduring power of peace.”

The International Day of Peace, established by the United Nations, is observed annually on September 21. It is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
