The Niger Delta Development Board (NDDC) has denied shortlisting beneficiaries for the youth internship scheme.
This is coming after a list posted on social media had claimed that only individuals from Cross River State Southern Senatorial District had been selected for the program.
In a statement released on Monday Otuekong Orok Otu Duke, the Cross River State Representative of the NDDC emphasized that “no such list has been collated” and warned against fraudulent messages demanding personal information and payment.
Otu advised the public to rely only on official NDDC sources, including the website, and authentic social media channels, for accurate information. He also assured that the selection process would be transparent, fair, and inclusive of all three senatorial districts in Cross River State.
The NDDC representative reiterated that no payment is required for internship placements and urged Cross Riverians to ignore unofficial lists and seek clarification from the NDDC office in Calabar or the official website.
“The attention of Otuekong Orok Otu Duke, the Cross River State representative at the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been drawn to reports of fraudulent messages claiming individuals have been selected for the ongoing NDDC Youth Internship Scheme. These messages also demand personal information and payment of an acceptance fee.
“Please note that the NDDC does not require any form of payment for its internship placements. Any such requests are fraudulent and should be disregarded. The public is advised to rely only on information from official NDDC sources, including the NDDC website (www.nddc.gov.ng) and authentic social media channels.
“Additionally, it has been brought to our attention that certain lists are circulating, purportedly representing selected beneficiaries from Cross River State. We wish to clarify that no such list has been collated, and any claims to the contrary are false. The final list of beneficiaries will be drawn from the NDDC’s official database, and no external names have been considered at this stage.
“Cross Riverians are advised to ignore any unofficial lists and seek information only from the NDDC Calabar office or the official NDDC website. We remain committed to transparency and fairness, and the selection process will be inclusive of all three senatorial districts—Cross River South, Central, and North.”- It reads.
