The Management of the University of Calabar has suspended Anazodo Mary Chinasa, a student in the Department of Public Health, for threatening the life of an examination invigilator.
According to a suspension letter
addressed to the affected student on Wednesday, signed by the University Registrar Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe, the management said it had received a disturbing report about a WhatsApp post by Anazodo Mary, which read: “If they never kill one invigilator, the rest no go learn.”
It reads “The letter condemned the statement, stating that such actions contravene the provisions of the Student Handbook and are unacceptable from a University student.
“As a result, management directed that Anazodo Mary be suspended from all academic activities in the university, effective Monday, August 12, 2024.
“The suspension,according to the letter, will remain in place until the Student Disciplinary Committee concludes its investigation and makes a recommendation to the institution’s management.
“This is even as Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Public Health, and Acting Chief Security Officer, have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the directive.”
