The Management of the Cross River State University (UNICROSS) has ordered the immediate suspension of all Students Union Government activities.
This was disclosed in a press release issued on Monday by the University acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen N. Ochang.
The suspension is coming following a planned protest, aimed at disrupting the on -going examination.
“The attention of the management of the University of Cross River State has been drawn to a planned protest by some students of the University arising from the recently conducted Students’ Union Government election.
“Management has given careful consideration to the matter referring to the said SUG Election and has decided to suspend all SUG activity in the University till further notice.
The decision of the management to suspend activities of the SUG is to avoid any disruption of the on-going examination”- It reads in part.
Street News had reported, the winner of the just concluded Student Union Government (SUG) Elections, Igbeng Thywill Was replaced with his opponent Ndep Kenolyll who had lost the election, after a petition was filed against the winner for using his nickname on the ballot rather than his original name.
The petitioner argued that Emmanuel Igbeng Thyswill is not a recognized name in the university, rather the name is “Igbeng Emmanuel Lazarus”.
