In a letter she personally signed, the student leader noted that the appointment of her special assistant was based on a “careful examination and assessing the individuals based on their conducts, enthusiasm and commitment to the SUG progress and advancement”.

The appointments include but are not limited to the Chief of Staff, Chief Press Secretary, Chief Security Officer, and 3 personal assistants among others.

One of the reactions came from Iduku Benjamin Odey as he took to his Facebook page to call out the student leader over the development.

He described the appointments as an outrageous culture, citing an instance of the immediate past SUG Kichi-Akwo who also appointed 54 aides.

“For the record, the immediate Past UNICAL SUG President Ukyi-osowo Kichi-Akwo also made an outrageous appointment of 54 aids, surpassing Blessing Alims by 4.

“It seems UNICAL SUG Presidents are known for appointing large numbers of unnecessary appointments.

“So let Blessing breathe, she is continuing from where her Predecessor stopped.
Kichi made appointments of 3 PA’s and 5 Media Aids.😂😂😂.”

Commenting on Facebook, another user Wisdom Elong wrote “Congratulations to First Female SUG president of Unical. Her Excellency Blessing Alims. But your appointment of 50 aides is worrisome.”

Bamildele Aderomu wrote
“She’s following the footsteps of Tifnubu, his only achievement is to appoint his Lagos thugs into position”.

“If this one becomes minister she will appoint more than 5000 ministers, Nigeria who do us this kind thing”-Joshua Kwado wrote.
