Impressed by the kind gesture of a couple in ONNA Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, who donated a piece of land for the building of an ARISE Compassionate home for a widow, Governor Umo Eno has directed that a two -bedroom ARISE bungalow be equally built for the couple.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr Ekerete Udoh, the Governor has directed his aide on humanitarian affairs to immediately start work on erecting a new building for the couple.
The Governor was quoted as saying, “I have just directed that a brand new compassionate home be built for the couple too for their good heart . This is the true definition of the Arise spirit”
Last week, at Ikot Nkan in ONNA Local Government Area, Madam Stella George, had been gifted a house by the Governor who was represented at the presentation ceremony by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Uko Udom, SAN.
But the most astonishing story of the exercise was that a couple had to donate their parcel of land for the widow to have a house built for her by the Governor.
However, shortly after being briefed on the gesture of the couple, Governor Eno on Sunday directed that the couple who showed such kind gesture to their neighbour be immediately rewarded.
The indigent family lived in a thatched house but decided to donate their land for the home to be built for Madam Stella George, prompting the Governor’s representative to describe them as the true ARISE ambassadors.
Mr Udom, SAN, had expressed appreciation for their sacrifice and promised to relate the rare gesture to the State Chief Executive, who in his usual kindness and empathy for the vulnerable, has now directed that a two- bedroom Arise Compassionate home be built for her as well.
