Member representing Bakassi State Constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Eyo Bassey, has presented a chronicle highlighting his activities on the floor of the assembly and in his constituency in the past one year.
In a release he personally signed and made available to the press, Eyo, popularly called Empowerment CHairman, has facilitated scholarship programmes for students of Bakassi origin, subsidized tuition fee for students of National Teachers’ Institute, and facilitated the restoration of power lines to Bakassi, amongst others.
Several other empowerments were listed in the release to include educational and monthly financial support to constituents, intervention for business communities and others in Bakassi.
His consistent visits to his constituency in a programme tagged “My Constituency and I” have brought governance closer to his people He hopes to do more in coming years as he awaits the Budgetary Provisions and implementation of his constituency needs for the good of the Bakassi people.
The release also indicated that, Eyo stated that he has sponsored 7 motions, cosponsored 32 motions and cosponsored 18 bills on the floor of the 10th assembly.
These motions include:
- A call on the State Government to rehabilitate street children in Calabar
- Rehabilitation of road network in Bakassi LGA by the State Government
- Need for the State Government to rehabilitate the health sector in Bakassi LGA
- Draw the attention of the State Government to implement the provisions of law No. 7 of 2005 (Commercial Motorcycle Monitoring Agency’s implementation). etc
Hon. Eyo Bassey’s approach to representation has been guided by a singular focus on empowerment. Since taking office, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to initiating programs, policies and interventions that bring empowerment to his constituency and prioritize the needs and well-being of his constituents.
