The Nigeria army has confirmed that troops of operations Udo KA, have conducted a clearance operation, and neutralization of 6 members of the Proscribed Indigenous people of Biafra, at Igboro Forest In Abia state.

In a post made available on X, on Sunday the troops conducted the operations in order to Apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on the troops in Aba, last week.

The post reads in part ” In order to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on own troops (3 out of those killed are from the SE) at Aba last week as well as to recover arms and ammunition from the Indigenous People of Biafra and its affiliate Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) terrorist group, troops of Operation UDO KA conducted another successful clearance/raid operations to the IPOB/ESN Camp in Igboro Forest in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State yesterday.

“During the intelligence-led operation, troops encountered Improvised Explosive Devices along its axis of advance and one soldier sustained minor injury from the fragment. The terrorists’ feeble firefights were adequately subdued with superior firepower that led to the neutralization of 6 members of the criminal terrorists group while others escaped into adjoining bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds as blood stains were seen along their escape routes.

“The gallant troops recovered three locally fabricated Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers, two locally fabricated Artillery guns with tripods and its bombs. Other items recovered include dane guns, Biafran flags as well as Toyota Tundra and Hilux vehicles that were burnt in situ. Also all of their camps with different inscriptions were destroyed.

“The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA is calling on the good people of Abia to continue to cooperate with security agencies by giving credible and timely information that will help to annihilate the criminals in the State and the whole of South East Nigeria. Any information should be passed to OPUK by dialling 193 and press Option 2 on your phone.”

Street news had reported that the Nigerian Military had vowed to retaliate the killing of five soldiers in Aba, Abia State capital on Wednesday, at a checkpoint by the Proscribed Independent People Of Biafra, (IPOB).

The high military command, through a statement released on Friday in Abuja, by the director of defence Media Operations Major General Edward Buba, noted that the troops of Operation UDO KA stationed at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, near Abaz were ambushed and tragically killed by IPOB/ESN terrorists.

The soldiers, he noted, were deployed to maintain peace and safeguard citizens, and were unexpectedly attacked by terrorists in three tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and others from surrounding built-up areas.

The Director had stressed the necessity of military retaliation against such attacks, underscoring the military’s determination to apply strong military force to ensure the group’s complete defeat.
