1. Born in Daura, 1942
Muhammadu Buhari was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State. He was the 23rd child of his father and grew up in a modest Fulani household.

2.A Military Man to the Core
He joined the Nigerian Army in 1961, trained in the UK, India, and the U.S., and rose to the rank of Major-General. Buhari fought in the Nigerian Civil War and later became Governor of the North-Eastern State in 1975.

3. Military Head of State (1983–1985)
On December 31, 1983, Buhari led a military coup that ousted President Shehu Shagari. His regime was known for strict discipline, an anti-corruption drive, and the War Against Indiscipline (WAI).

4. Jailed After a Palace Coup
In August 1985, Buhari was overthrown by General Ibrahim Babangida. He was detained for over three years before being released and retreating from public view.

5.Presidential Comeback as a Democrat
After three failed attempts (2003, 2007, 2011), Buhari won the presidency in 2015 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

6.Re-Elected Amid Challenges
Buhari was re-elected in 2019, serving two full terms until May 29, 2023, when he handed over to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

7. Nicknamed “Say Baba”
Buhari earned this nickname due to his deliberate, cautious leadership style—especially his long delays in cabinet appointments and policy rollouts.

8.Anti-Corruption Crusader
Known for his clean image, Buhari focused heavily on fighting corruption. Critics, however, accused his government of selective prosecution.

9.Controversial on Security and Civil Rights
His administration struggled with rising insecurity—Boko Haram, banditry, and separatist unrest—and faced backlash over its handling of the #EndSARS protests and press freedoms.

10.Final Days in London
Buhari died in a London hospital on July 13, 2025, surrounded by close family and aides. The Presidency announced that arrangements for a state burial are underway.
